BoA
Kwon Bo-ah, or people known her as BoA (권보아 in Korean), is a South Korean singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress active in South Korea and Japan. Dubbed the “Queen of K-pop”, BoA has been recognized as one of the most successful and influential Korean entertainers throughout her career. She was born in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, on November 5, 1986. She became the first Korean pop star to break through in Japan, following the fall of the barriers that had restricted the import and export of entertainment between the countries since the end of World War II. Younha, or Go Youn-ha (고윤하 in Korean), is a South Korean singer-songwriter and record producer. She began her career in 2004 in Japan, where she was nicknamed the “Oricon Comet” for her success on the Japanese music chart, according to some news portals. Then, in 2006, she debuted in South Korea, where she is regarded as one of the country’s best singer-songwriters. Younha was born in Seoul, South Korea on April 29, 1988. As a teenager, Younha said she went to as many as 20 auditions with South Korean record labels, but was rejected because she wasn’t “pretty enough to become a star.” As a result, she dropped out of high school at the age of 16 to pursue a singing career in Japan. DBSK/TVXQ
TVXQ is a South Korean pop duo consisting of Yunho and Changmin. They are known as Tohoshinki (東方神起 in Japanese) in their Japanese releases, and are sometimes referred to as DBSK, an abbreviation of their Korean name, Dong Bang Shin Ki (동방신기 in Korean), which means “Rising Gods of the East.” TVXQ began as a five-member boy-band composed of members U-Know Yunho, Max Changmin, Hero Jaejoong, Micky Yoochun, and Xiah Junsu. But then, unfortunately, Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu attempted to split from their Korean agency S.M. Entertainment in 2010. Like BoA and Younha, TVXQ has done songs for anime soundtracks. 2PM
2PM is a South Korean boy-band formed by JYP Entertainment. The current members are Jun.K (formerly known as Junsu), Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Wooyoung, Junho, and Chansung. According to some news portals, actually Park Jin-young (or JYP) formed an eleven-member band known as One Day, but eventually the band was split into 2PM and a similar, but independent group known as 2AM.
